Job summary

Backus Hospital in Connecticut seeks an experienced NICU RN to demonstrate clinical competence using the nursing process, assess patient needs, establish and implement care plans, and maintain patient safety in a high-acuity NICU environment.

Education: nursing school graduate; BSN/MSN preferred. Requirements include CT RN license, BLS, and ability to obtain NRP within 60 days. Rotating 7pm-7:30am weekends/holidays. Hartford HealthCare network.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a nursing program and eligible for RN licensure in CT.
• One year of RN experience; NICU experience preferred.
• BLS certification required; NRP within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop care plans.
• Provide evidence-based care in the NICU setting.
• Monitor patient status and collaborate with the care team.
• Document care plans and patient responses.

JOB SUMMARY - NICU

Demonstrates clinical competence through utilization of the nursing process and development of a synergistic nurse-patient relationship. Assesses and identifies patient problems/needs, establishes a plan of care, implements and evaluates care provided to patients.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of a school of nursing. BSN or MSN preferred.

Experience: One (1) year RN experience and/or successful completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program.Two (2) or more years experience in this specific clinical area preferred.

License and Certification

• Current unrestricted License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain department specific certifications.
• Registered Nurse Core Certification (RNC - NIC or CCRN) preferred.
