Job summary

Backus Hospital in Norwich, CT is seeking a registered nurse to provide patient-centered care using the nursing process. The role emphasizes assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care, building a therapeutic nurse-patient relationship.

Shift is 7:00pm–7:30am with rotating weekends and holidays. Requires BSN/MSN preferred; active Connecticut RN license, BLS on hire, and ability to obtain NRP within 60 days. Experienced nurses in this clinical area are preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of nursing.
• BSN or MSN preferred.
• 1 year RN experience and/or Nurse Residency completion.
• 2+ years experience in this clinical area preferred.
• Current CT RN license.
• BLS on hire.
• NRP certification ability within 60 days.
• RNC/CCRNs preferred.

JOB SUMMARY

Demonstrates clinical competence through utilization of the nursing process and development of a synergistic nurse-patient relationship. Assesses and identifies patient problems/needs, establishes a plan of care, implements and evaluates care provided to patients.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of a school of nursing. BSN or MSN preferred.

Experience: One (1) year RN experience and/or successful completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program.Two (2) or more years experience in this specific clinical area preferred.

License and Certification

• Current unrestricted License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain department specific certifications.
• Registered Nurse Core Certification (RNC - NIC or CCRN) preferred.
