North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, AL is hiring an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Med/Surg Overflow unit, a 32-bed area focused on postoperative and general medical-surgical care. You will monitor patients, document findings, and collaborate with the care team to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes.

Ideal candidates hold an Alabama or compact RN license, an Associate's Degree in Nursing, and Basic Life Support.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing is required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Current Alabama or compact-state RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS/PALS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies medical surgical needs.
• Performs post-operative assessments.
• Performs wound care.
• Timely and accurate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record.

Our Post‑Surgical Overflow Medical‑Surgical Unit is a 32‑bed inpatient unit specializing in the care of patients recovering from general, orthopedic, and neurosurgical procedures. The unit also supports medical-surgical overflow as needed. Nurses on this unit typically manage a 1:6 nurse‑to‑patient ratio, providing comprehensive postoperative monitoring, pain management, and coordinated interdisciplinary care.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Alabama or compact state RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school.

Additional requirements include:

• Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
• Basic Life Support required
• ACLS, PALS, and Handle with Care preferred
• Experience preferred, but new grads welcomed to apply.
