Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Med/Surg 8 Unit at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center – West Bank Campus in Minneapolis, MN. The RN provides care to adult medical-surgical patients with close monitoring and interventions.

The role features 12-hour night shifts, with weekend and holiday rotations, and a 0.75 FTE schedule. The unit emphasizes teamwork, evidence-based practice, and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in MN and active BLS certification are required.
• Minimum ADN/ASN degree with nursing license and state approval.
• BSN preferred but not required; strong clinical and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessment, planning, and evaluation.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans; monitor patient outcomes.
• Coordinate with healthcare team; delegate tasks and supervise others as needed.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with policies and MN Nurse Practice Act.
• Deliver age-appropriate care, considering developmental and cultural differences.
• Collaborate with patients and families to support care goals.

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Med/Surg 8 Unit at the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center – West Bank Campus in Minneapolis, MN.

Schedule

This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the Night shift with an every 3rd weekend rotation (F,S,S) and a holiday rotation.

About Our Med – Surg 8 Department

• Our unit is comprised of 24 Beds.
  • Care Delivery: 4-5 patient assignment. 5-6 patient assignment on Night Shift.
• Our team is prepared to work with a variety of adult patient diagnoses including:
  • Sepsis
  • Overdoses/Withdrawals
  • Surgical Procedures
  • Telemetry
  • Diabetes
  • Pneumonia
  • Altered Mental Status (AMS)
  • And more!

• We are looking for someone who will accel in a fast-paced environment, someone who knows how to problem solve, who is flexible and collaborative, and who is dedicated to always putting the patient first.

The RN is responsible and accountable for patient assessment, analysis, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention application, and the identification and evaluation of outcomes for patients of all ages and populations. The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act:

• Prioritizing, delegating, and maintaining oversight of duties and responsibilities of other staff members as a team leader.
• Maintaining confidentiality in matters related to patient, family, and facility.
• Establishing and implementing nursing care plans for assigned patient populations through assessment, development, activation, evaluation, and discharge.
• Conducting ongoing assessments as determined by patient’s condition and/or the hospital policies, procedures or protocols and re prioritizes care accordingly.
• Demonstrating the ability to deliver care or service by adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
• Collaborating with patients, families, and health care team members.

Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN/ASN)
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Valid RN License from MN Board of Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher
