Trinity Health Ann Arbor invites applications for a Registered Nurse on 5 North Medicine. The unit is a 34-bed inpatient service with telemetry capability, performing care for stroke and general medicine patients.

You will work a 12-hour night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, on a full-time schedule with alternating weekends and holidays. Requirements include Michigan RN licensure, BLS; ACLS for designated departments; BSN preferred, with a goal to obtain BSN within five years if not already held.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Current Michigan RN license and BLS certification.
• ACLS required for Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU and Emergency.
• BSN within five years of hire/transfer or already held.

Responsibilities

• Gathers and analyzes patient information.
• Develops, implements, evaluates and revises an individualized plan of care.
• Uses teach back methodology to educate patient and family.
• Actively seeks to prevent potential hospital acquired conditions.
• Effectively communicates patient status, goals and interventions during rounds and handoffs.
• Follows HIPAA policies and procedures.

Position Purpose

5 North is a 34-bed medical inpatient unit housing medical observation, stroke, and general medicine patient populations. The unit has the capability to monitor up to 16 patients on telemetry. The staff work together as an interdisciplinary team to provide respectful, patient-centered care for a diverse patient population. 5 North offers great learning opportunities, the chance to learn and hone many skills, sets the foundation for nursing practice, and facilitates the development of critical thinking as care is provided to a variety of diagnoses. Nurses on this unit earn their NIHSS certification within the first 6 months of hire.

Shifts Available

7:00 PM to 7:00 AM

Status Available

Full time, Every Other Weekend and Every other Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-Time team members.

Required Qualifications

Education

Graduation from a school of nursing that results in the ability of the graduate to sit for the NCLEX exam to become licensed as a Registered Nurse. BSN preferred.

Licensure

• Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• BLS.
• ACLS required for the following departments : Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, Emergency

Experience

Experienced Canadian Registered Nurses are encouraged to apply

• Graduation from accredited nursing program.
• Effective January 1, 2013 all new hires must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five (5) years from date of hire or transfer to an RN role.
• Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and age specific needs
• Interpersonal skills necessary to initiate and maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Critical thinking skills necessary to perform principal duties and responsibilities of job description.
