Qualifications

• RN with SD Board of Nursing in good standing.
• 1–3 years of clinical or long-term care experience preferred.
• Must be able to work rotating day/night/weekend/holiday shifts.

Responsibilities

• Regularly evaluate residents’ physical and mental health, including vital signs.
• Dispense and monitor medications per physician orders.
• Maintain open communication with residents, families, physicians and the care team.
• Observe health status changes and report promptly to providers.
• Assess pain levels and administer prescribed pain meds.
• Provide emotional support and address psychosocial needs of residents.
• Maintain accurate resident records and medication logs.
• Collaborate with CNAs and other professionals to deliver comprehensive care.

A Brief Overview

Becoming an RN, in Long Term Care (LTC), allows you to provide significant, ongoing care to elderly patients. By providing attentive care, you can significantly improve the daily lives of residents, making a noticeable difference.

What you will do:

• Regularly evaluating residents' physical and mental health, including vital signs, cognitive function, and overall well-being.
• Accurately dispensing and monitoring medications according to physician orders.
• Maintaining open communication with residents, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated care.
• Observing for any significant changes in resident health status and promptly reporting them to the appropriate healthcare provider.
• Assessing pain levels and administering pain medication as prescribed.
• Providing emotional support and addressing psychosocial needs of residents.
• Maintaining accurate and detailed resident records, including progress notes and medication administration logs.
• Recognizing subtle changes in resident behavior or health status due to the chronic nature of conditions.
• Collaborating effectively with Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care.
• Comply with all aspects of resident rights including confidentiality and privacy.
• Lead, by example, following Freeman Regional Health Services CARE standards.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

Registered Nurse (RN) - SD Board of Nursing 1-3 years experience working in a clinical or long term care environment, preferred.
