Job summary

Inova Fairfax Medical Center in Falls Church, VA is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Lactation Consultant to join the Postpartum Unit. This full-time role is 36 hours per week with relocation assistance available.

You will provide skilled, family-centered lactation support, collaborate with the care team, and coordinate transitions across disciplines while upholding Inova's patient safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited school of nursing; if RN has an ADN, must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
• 1 year of RN experience in critical care; or 1 year in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association required on start; ACLS/PALS within 6 months where applicable; chemo card within 3 months for infusion centers.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as an RN or multi-state RN license.

Responsibilities

• Provides skilled, compassionate care and coordinates patient care.
• Collaborates with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Delivers patient/family-centered care in a holistic manner.
• Documents patient care activities and assists team members.

• Serves as a clinical resource, preceptor, and mentor, and supervises patient care activities.
• Utilizes care delivery standards, integrating communication, technology, and collaboration.
• Pursues ongoing professional development and maintains Continuing Education Records.
• Contributes to performance improvement initiatives and evaluates clinical outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education:BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associate’s Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
• Experience: Required 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse, for Critical Care units, 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship.
• Certification:Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start | For Critical Care Units: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - Within 6 Months | For Pediatric Units: Pediatric Advanced Life Support- Within 6 Months | For Infusion Center Units: Obtain chemo card- within 3 months of hire
• Licensure:Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license

Registered Nurse (RN) Lactation Consultant Preferred Qualifications:

• Candidates who currently holds an IBCLC certification.
