Job summary

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital’s Perinatal Department seeks a Clinical Nurse for the Labor & Delivery unit. You will provide skilled, compassionate care to mothers and newborns, assess evolving conditions, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans.

The role requires 2+ years in hospital-based L&D, DC RN license, BLS, and the ability to obtain NCC C-EFM certification within 12 months.

Qualifications

• ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required. BSN preferred.
• At least two years of recent, hospital-based Labor & Delivery RN experience required. High risk delivery center experience preferred.
• Active DC RN License and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required (AHA or American Red Cross).
• C-EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring from the NCC preferred; if not certified, certification required within 12 months from date of hire.

The Perinatal Department at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital consists of a Labor & Delivery/Inpatient Antepartum Suite along with a Mother-Baby Couplet Postpartum Unit. Perinatal nurses assess the mother and neonate in a family-centered, holistic environment that supports the new family during this time of changing needs. MedStar Georgetown is a regional referral center for high-risk mothers and infants, and enjoys a supportive and cooperative relationship with our outstanding Level IV NICU to provide excellent continuity of care for these families. Perinatal nurses collaborate with parenting services, antepartum/postpartum patient educators and lactation specialists to provide comprehensive patient and family education. Our diverse patient population includes both medically complex and uncomplicated patients. Perinatal nurses enjoy participating in collaborative governance at the unit and hospital level and are encouraged to attend a wide variety of educational opportunities, including AWHONN regional and national conferences.

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse on the Labor & Delivery Unit, you will provide skilled, compassionate care to patients and families across a spectrum of needs—from routine to highly complex. You will assess evolving patient conditions, identify actual and potential health concerns, and develop appropriate care plans. Interventions may be delivered directly or coordinated through collaboration with other members of the nursing team.

This position has a hiring range of USD $42.00 - USD $69.42 /Hr.
