Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center invites experienced Clinical Nurses to join the Maternal Newborn Center. Our unit includes a Level II Special Care Nursery and a five-bed labor area, delivering evidence-based care from labor through the postpartum period in a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

Full-time shifts run 7a–7p and 7p–7a. Required qualifications include ADN/BSN/MSN/CNL from an accredited nursing program, prior labor and delivery experience, and an active MD RN

Qualifications

• ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Prior labor and delivery experience required.
• Active MD RN license or Active Compact State RN and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required (AHA or American Red Cross).

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled, compassionate care across routine to highly complex cases.
• Assess evolving patient conditions and develop appropriate care plans.
• Collaborate with the nursing team to coordinate interventions.

About the Job

The Maternal Newborn Center provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for mothers and newborns throughout labor, delivery, and the postpartum period, including a Level II Special Care Nursery, where we provide care to our smallest patients. We utilize approaches such as Spinning Babies® and Bundle Birth to promote safe outcomes and maintain cesarean rates below the national average. Our close-knit team of highly trained nurses—certified in electronic fetal monitoring and STABLE—delivers compassionate, high-quality care in a collaborative environment. We are a smaller unit with 5 labor beds, 2 triage rooms, 1 PACU, and 2 ORs, as well as 10 Postpartum rooms. We are committed to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion for not only our patients and their families but also our team.

Positions available -Full-time: 7a-7p and 7pm-7am

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse, you will provide skilled, compassionate care to patients and families across a spectrum of needs—from routine to highly complex. You will assess evolving patient conditions, identify actual and potential health concerns, and develop appropriate care plans. Interventions may be delivered directly or coordinated through collaboration with other members of the nursing team

This position has a hiring range of

USD $36.50 - USD $60.34 /Hr.
