Job summary

Harris Regional Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Labor & Delivery in Sylva, NC. The role offers a 3x12 schedule (7p–7a) with weekend and holiday requirements and a $10,000–$20,000 sign-on based on experience and commitment.

Learn in a Level 2B nursery with dedicated mother-baby and labor/delivery units, and across a comprehensive Women's Services team. Join a Lifepoint Health facility with a rich history of care in Western North Carolina.

Qualifications

  • Active North Carolina RN license required (or compact state)
  • Associates degree required; BSN preferred
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire
  • AHA ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire
  • One year of RN experience preferred
  • Must demonstrate critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate patient assessments and identify needs
  • Initiate appropriate nursing interventions
  • Provide age-appropriate patient care
  • Document medical necessity in the medical record
  • Complete and revise the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
  • Complete timely QI assessments

Job Type: Full Time | Nights

$10,000 Sign-On Bonus for New Grad RNs and up to $20,000 Sign-On Bonus for experienced RNs with a 2-year commitment for eligible candidates.

Schedule: 3x12s, night shift (7p-7a). Weekends and holidays are required.

More about our team Join our team in a 18-bed Women's Services Unit featuring a Level 2B nursery with 6 beds and 8 bed Mother Baby Unit and 5 bed Labor and delivery unit. With an average of 50 deliveries per month and a below-average C-section rate, our unit provides comprehensive care for expectant mothers and newborns. This role offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment dedicated to promoting a positive birthing experience and ensuring the health and well-being of mothers and infants alike. You will also have the opportunity to cross-train in different areas of this department to gain experience. This department utilizes a self-scheduling application.

How you'll contribute
  • Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
  • Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
  • Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
  • Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
  • Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
  • Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

What we're looking for
  • Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
  • Associate's degree required, BSN preferred.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
  • One year of experience preferred
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
