Job summary

Trinity Health Chelsea Hospital in Chelsea, Michigan, is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to support the Infusion Clinic. The role focuses on outpatient care follow-up and administration of chemotherapy, in collaboration with IHA Hematology Oncology Associates in a 14-chair infusion center.

You will perform nursing assessments, develop care plans with patients and families, manage IV access, administer medications, document care, and participate in a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Michigan Nursing License required.
  • Graduation from accredited nursing program.
  • Experience administering chemotherapy highly preferred.
  • Experience using EPIC preferred.
  • BSN degree or plan to obtain BSN within five years.

Responsibilities

  • Performs nursing assessments of the patient's physical, psychosocial and cognitive status considering age and development level.
  • Formulates and documents individualized plans of care developed with the patient, family and health care team members.
  • Demonstrates excellent IV skills and the ability to manage venous access devices (PICCs/ports).
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments following approved nursing techniques.
  • Documents patient care according to Hospital and Department standards.

Position Purpose:

This registered nurse works collaboratively with IHA Hematology Oncology Associates in 14-chair infusion center at the Chelsea hospital. Primary responsibilities include outpatient care follow-up and administration of chemotherapy, in addition to a variety of other types of Infusion services.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs nursing assessments of the patient's physical, psychosocial and cognitive status considering age and development level.
  • Formulates and documents individualized plans of care developed with the patient, family and health care team members.
  • Demonstrates excellent IV skills and the ability to manage/maintain Venous Access Devices, such as pic lines and ports.
  • Implements patient care in a manner consistent with the age of the patient, the plan of care and the changing needs of the patient.
  • Documents patient care according to Hospital and Department standards.
  • Evaluates patient care needs, determines priorities and directs nursing care as required for the delivery of quality patient care.
  • Supervises the care provided by unlicensed assistive personnel under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
  • Experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Able to problem solve and manage crisis, able to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing patient care environment.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
  • Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
  • Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient.
Shift Available

Days (8am-4:30pm)

Status Available

Part time, benefit eligible (48 hours per pay period – every two weeks)

No weekend or holiday requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Requires current Michigan Nursing License
  • Graduation from accredited nursing program
  • Experience administering chemotherapy highly preferred
  • Experience using EPIC preferred
  • New hires must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five years
