Job summary

Trinity Health Infusion Clinic in Michigan seeks a Registered Nurse to join the Infusion Services team. You will deliver chemotherapy and immunotherapy, manage IV therapies, and support oncology and non-oncology patients across multiple locations in Ann Arbor, Canton and Brighton.

The role requires a BSN or commitment to obtain within five years, current MI nursing license, BLS, and chemotherapy certification. EPIC EMR is used to document care and coordinate with the broader care team.

Qualifications

• BSN degree required or commitment to obtain within five years of hire.
• Current Michigan Nursing License and BLS.
• Chemotherapy Certification required; OCN encouraged.
• Experience with infusion nursing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients holistically, considering physical, psychosocial, and age-specific needs.
• Apply critical thinking to gather data and respond to patient conditions.
• Develop and revise an individualized care plan using evidence-based practice.
• Educate patients and families; verify readiness for discharge.

About The Department

Our Infusion Clinic provides a variety of treatments to both Oncology and Non-Oncology patients. For our Oncology patients, these treatments include chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, IV hydration, blood products, Injections, Iron, phlebotomies, Bone Marrow Biopsies, and other infusion therapies related to supportive care for these patients. These treatments are provided to both our Hematology-Oncology Patients and our Gynecology Oncology Patients. Many of these patients may be on a Clinical Research trial or receiving combined modality treatment with Radiation Therapy.

We also support many other specialties such as Rheumatology, Neurology, OB, Huron Gastro, Primary Care providers, etc and the specialized care required for these patients.

Our Infusion Clinic is supported by our Infusion Nurses, Medical Assistants, Infusion Schedulers, Nurse Coordinator, Education Coordinator, and Infusion Manager.

Our Infusion Nurses receive their Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Certification through ONS (Oncology Nursing Society). We provide training and education for both the novice and experienced Infusion Nurse. We also provide yearly recertification for our Chemotherapy Certified Nurses.

We utilize EPIC as our EMR.

Hours of Operation

• Ann Arbor: Open Monday through Friday 8am – 6:30pm.
• Canton: Open Monday through Friday 8- 4:30pm
• Brighton: Open Monday through Friday 8-4:30pm

Our Infusion Clinics are currently closed on Weekends and Holidays.

Required Education And Licensure

• Graduation from accredited nursing program.
• All new hires must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five (5) years from date of hire or transfer to an RN role.
• Current Michigan Nursing License
• BLS
• All our Infusion Nurses are required to obtain their Chemotherapy Certification, and are strongly encouraged to obtain their OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse)

• Identify patient and family education needs. Develop and implement teaching plans based on evidence-based practice, seeking out additional resources when necessary. Utilize teach back methodology to assure patient and family is learning effectively. Identify necessary resources to assure readiness for discharge and begins to develop plan in collaboration with other disciplines.
• Create an environment that promotes a positive patient experience.
• Communicate both verbal and written information (including documentation in the EMR) that is accurate, timely, concise and thorough. Effectively communicate patient status, priority goals and interventions to colleagues and other disciplines during consultation, rounds and handoffs.
• Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.
