Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking an ICU RN to join a Level 2 trauma center with 24 ICU beds and IMCU support. You will provide critical care, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and participate in a rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.

The role requires Michigan RN licensure and an associate's degree in nursing (bachelor's preferred). A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available for well-qualified applicants.

Qualifications

• Michigan RN license required (current).
• Associate's degree from accredited nursing school; bachelor’s preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments and other medical care.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Monitors and communicates patient condition to care team, physician, patient and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living including hygiene, nutrition and ambulation.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, transfers, discharges and referrals.
• Assesses learning needs of patient/family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, and condition.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

More About Our Team

ICU has 24 total beds with the ability to care for ICU and IMCU patient populations with care aide support. This team supports open heart, neuro surg, CRRT programs, as the level 2 trauma center for the UP of Michigan, Cath lab and Interventional radiology perform high risk PCI and high-risk procedures. Clinical Educator is located on the unit and follows the ECCOs program for orientation. Acuity changes from high ICU census to high IMCU census.

How You'll Contribute

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
• Handle with Care- Advanced (within 90 days)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (within 1 year)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (within 1 year)
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) (within 1 year)
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) (within 1 year)
