Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Heart Failure Unit (5E) at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. This full-time daytime/midnight rotating role involves caring for high-acuity cardiac patients, including post-operative LVAD and open-heart surgery cases.

The RN will perform advanced assessments, continuous cardiac monitoring, medication administration, and patient education, with weekends/holidays as required.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred
• Commitment to obtaining BSN within three years of date of hire
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse
• Previous stepdown experience preferred
• Previous critical care experience preferred
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Delaware RN licensure or eligibility for licensure in Delaware

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on the Heart Failure Unit
• Perform advanced assessment and continuous hemodynamic and cardiac monitoring
• Administer medications and educate patients and families
• Detect early changes in patient condition and respond appropriately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to coordinate care

Registered Nurse (RN) - Heart Failure Unit

Full Time - Day/Midnight rotating (7A-7P & 7P-7A)

Hours: 72 hours/pay

Weekends and holidays as required.

The Heart Failure Unit (5E) at Christiana Hospital is a 36-bed specialized post-critical care complex cardiac unit providing high-acuity care to patients with complex heart failure and post-operative cardiac needs. Within the unit, 12 beds are designated for post-operative open-heart surgery and LVAD patient population requiring advanced clinical expertise and specialized nursing competencies.

As a Registered Nurse on 5E, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients who may have chest tubes and surgical drains, large-bore central venous catheters, and external cardiac pacing wires. RNs are responsible for advanced assessment, continuous hemodynamic and cardiac monitoring, medication administration, patient education, and early detection of changes in patient condition.

Education & Requirements

• BSN preferred

Hourly Pay Range: $42.11 - $67.37

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
