Job summary

ChristianaCare in Newark, DE seeks a Registered Nurse for the Heart Failure Unit (5E) to deliver high-acuity cardiac care. You will perform advanced assessments, continuous hemodynamic monitoring, and patient education for patients with complex heart failure and postoperative cardiac needs.

The role is full-time with day/midnight rotating shifts (72 hours per pay). Delaware RN licensure is required or eligibility; BSN preferred with commitment to pursue BSN within three years; one year RN

Qualifications

• BSN preferred; commitment to obtaining BSN within three years of date of hire.
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse required; stepdown and critical care experience preferred.
• BLS required; ACLS preferred; Delaware RN licensure or eligibility to practice in Delaware.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to high-acuity heart failure patients.
• Perform advanced assessment and continuous hemodynamic/cardiac monitoring.
• Administer medications and educate patients and families on care plans.
• Detect and respond to changes in patient condition promptly.

Education

Registered Nurse (RN) - Heart Failure Unit

Full Time - Day/Midnight rotating (7A-7P & 7P-7A)

Hours: 72 hours/pay

Weekends and holidays as required.

The Heart Failure Unit (5E) at Christiana Hospital is a 36-bed specialized post-critical care complex cardiac unit providing high-acuity care to patients with complex heart failure and post-operative cardiac needs. Within the unit, 12 beds are designated for post-operative open-heart surgery and LVAD patient population requiring advanced clinical expertise and specialized nursing competencies.

As a Registered Nurse on 5E, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients who may have chest tubes and surgical drains, large-bore central venous catheters, and external cardiac pacing wires. RNs are responsible for advanced assessment, continuous hemodynamic and cardiac monitoring, medication administration, patient education, and early detection of changes in patient condition.

Education & Requirements:

• BSN preferred
• Commitment to obtaining BSN within three years of date of hire required.
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse required
• Previous stepdown experience preferred
• Previous critical care experience preferred
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Delaware RN licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Delaware

Hourly Pay Range: $42.11 - $67.37
This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
