Job summary

Nashville General Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for our Forensic Unit in Nashville, TN. This full-time, day-shift position involves caring for forensic patients, coordinating with physicians and specialists, and maintaining accurate charting and documentation.

You will administer medications, admit and assess patients, monitor vital signs, run tests, and ensure quality care in an 18-bed unit with a 4:1 patient ratio.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN/ Diploma/ BSN).
• Current TN RN license or compact state license.
• BLS required; ACLS preferred.
• Forensic patient care knowledge and development considerations.
• Familiarity with hospital policies and procedures; experience with corrections settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments.
• Admit and assess patients on intake.
• Monitor vital signs and patient status.
• Order and run diagnostic tests as needed.
• Coordinate care with physicians and specialists.
• Document patient progress in medical records.

Nashville General Hospital is hiring for a full-time, Day shift Registered Nurse (RN) for our Forensic Unit in Nashville, TN.

This is an 18-bed unit with a 4:1 patient ratio

As aForensic RN,you will be responsible for:

• Administering medication and treatments
• Admitting and assessing patients
• Monitoring vital signs and symptoms
• Running and ordering tests
• Coordinating care with Physicians and Specialists
• Charting Patient Progress

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree, Diploma or Baccalaureate Degree program in Nursing preferred.
• Possess a current licensure or permit to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee or compact state.
• BLS required, ACLS preferred.
• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development necessary for assessment, range of treatment and care of forensic patients ranging from adult through geriatrics.
• Knowledge of hospital and department policies and procedures, patient care procedures, and the ability to operate technical equipment as acquired through orientation. In addition, a working knowledge of TN Department of Corrections and Davidson County Sheriff’s Office policy and procedures when interacting with forensic patients preferred.
