Job summary

Southern Tennessee Regional Health System – Pulaski is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department. This PRN position covers night shifts, with limited weekend and holiday requirements as described, delivering direct patient care using the nursing process.

You will collaborate with the care team, document care, perform procedures, and educate patients and families while upholding standards of practice.

Qualifications

  • Current Tennessee RN license or compact license.
  • Associate degree in nursing; BSN preferred.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, and HWC certifications.
  • TNCC and ENPC preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking and ability to work in a stressful environment.

Job description

Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (ER) – PRN

Job Type: PRN. Night Schedule: 2‑12 per 6 weeks; 2 weekend shifts per quarter; 2 holidays per year.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
  • Perform plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatments.
  • Document patient care provided.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluate learning needs of patient and/or family and provide patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Act as an advocate for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.

Qualifications
  • Current Tennessee or one‑day compact state RN license.
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school (BSN preferred).
  • Base certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, and HWC (all within specified timeframes); TNCC and ENPC preferred.
  • Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision, and capacity to work in a stressful environment.
