Job summary

Canyon Vista Medical Center in Sierra Vista, Arizona, is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department on a PRN night schedule (12-hour shifts, 7:00pm-7:00am). The ED is a 22-bed unit in a Level III Trauma Center, offering teamwork, professional growth, and challenging emergency care.

Applicants must hold an active Arizona RN license, have an Associate's Degree in Nursing, and obtain BLS/ACLS/PALS within 90 days of hire with TNCC within a year. One year of experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Active Arizona or Compact RN license required.
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's or Master's preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs plan of care interventions including medication administration and other treatments.
  • Documents patient care provided.
  • Monitors and communicates patient condition to care team, physician, patient and family.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living and personal care.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, transfers, discharges and referrals.
  • Provides patient education based on age and condition.
  • Supports physical and emotional well-being of patients and families.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

How You'll Contribute

As an RN in the Emergency Department (ED) at Canyon Vista Medical Center, a 22-bed unit , you will operate within a trauma III hospital setting, ensuring patients receive optimal medical attention and support.

Essential Functions
  • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
  • Documents patient care provided.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
  • Evaluates patient and family learning needs and provides appropriate education based on age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
  • Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Patient Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult.

What we're looking for:

Applicants should have a current Arizona or compact state RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required, Bachelor's or Master's Degree preferred.
  • Must have an active Arizona or Compact RN License.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, HAZMAT and Handle with Care certifications are required within 90 days of hire.
  • TNCC required within one year of hire.
  • One year of experience preferred
