Job summary

Fairview Range in Hibbing, MN is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Department. This on-call position involves 12-hour day or night shifts and requires a minimum of 64 hours every 4-month period.

You'll perform direct and indirect patient care, oversee unit operations as charge nurse when needed, and work within a Level IV trauma center. Minnesota RN licensure and BLS are required; ACLS/PALS/TNCC are expected or planned within orientation timelines.

Qualifications

• 1 year of Emergency Department or 2 years of ICU experience preferred.
• Current Minnesota RN licensure.
• BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS and TNCC certifications or timelines as stated.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department.
• Oversee unit operations during shifts as charge nurse when applicable.
• Perform focused primary/secondary surveys and develop care plans.
• Identify patient needs and coordinate with the care team.
• Monitor and report patient condition changes to physicians promptly.

Job Overview

Fairview Range is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Department in Hibbing, MN.

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct nursing care to patients as well as indirect care within the Emergency Department as well as oversees unit operations for a shift when functioning as charge nurse.

Schedule

This position is an on-call position with hours as needed. The shift length will be 12 hours on the day OR night shift. To maintain employment, this position must work at least 64 hours in designated 4-month periods, if called.

About this unit:

We are a Level IV trauma center and an Acute Stroke Ready hospital. We provide life-saving treatment to the seriously ill and injured 24 hours a day, with an adjacent Urgent Care department seeing lower acuity patients 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.

• 17 ER beds including 2 standalone trauma bays
• Multidisciplinary approach to all emergencies.
• Care delivery team: Board Certified/Eligible ED physicians and advanced practice providers, RNs, LPNs, Unit Assistants, dedicated Social Worker, dedicated Security Officer
• Telemedicine includes Telestroke and Telepsych
• Patient population: all ages

• Perform a primary, secondary and focused survey according to established policies.
• Demonstrate awareness of age-specific criteria in obtaining assessment data.
• Identify patient needs and/or nursing diagnosis based on analysis of collected data and incorporates into an individualized plan of care.
• Analyze assessment data, identifies problems and develops the plan of care in collaboration with the patient, significant other and resource personnel.
• Provide age specific direct patient care in collaboration with all disciplines according to standards of care.
• Recognize and reports adverse patient condition to the physician in a timely manner.

Registered Nurse (RN) Job Qualifications

• 1 year of Emergency Department or 2 years of ICU experience preferred.
• Will consider minimum of 1-year critical care experience recently (experience within past year) OR 2 years of Med/Surg/Peds experience recently (experience within past 6 months) if no candidate meets preferred experience criteria.
• Current Minnesota RN licensure.
• Current BLS certification required and maintains certification. Current ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certification or attains ACLS and PALS prior to the end of orientation and TNCC within 1 year.
