Qualifications

• 1 year of hospital acute care RN experience required.
• BLS certification required; ACLS within 6 months of hire.
• MN RN license required; TNCC and PALS within 1 year post hire.
• ENPC required if not previously held, within 1 year post hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate nursing care for assigned patients.
• Coordinate care with health team and delegate as appropriate.
• Develop and implement individualized nursing plans based on age and needs.
• Evaluate care and patient responses to interventions.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and care teams.
• Promote evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.

Job Overview

Fairview is looking for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood, MN.

Schedule

This role is a .6 FTE (48 hours every 2 weeks) working 12-hour evening shifts, with every third weekend rotation. Variable weekday schedule.

About This Unit

This unit has a total of 29 beds, and we see a variety of patients, pediatric through geriatric. We are a dynamic team that focuses on promoting a welcoming atmosphere filled with strong teamwork, collaboration, empathy, and compassion.

Responsibilities

• The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
• Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
• Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
• Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
• Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
• Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
• Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
• Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)

Required Qualifications

• 1 year of hospital acute care RN experience
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
• MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
• ACLS: Must complete no later than 6 months post hire
• TNCC and PALS: Must complete no more than one year post hire.
• ENPC: If the RN has never had it, need to complete no more than one year post hire. Once lifetime (does not need to be current).

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Nursing
• 1 year experience
• 1 year Emergency Department, pediatric/ adult critical care, or telemetry RN experience
• Certification by the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing as a CEN or CPEN
