Location and Hours

Location: Lancaster General Hospital - Lancaster, PA

Hours: Full Time (36 hours per week). Night Shift (7pm-7am). Rotating weekends and holidays. On-call requirements.

Department Overview

Our Emergency Department treats 300 to 400 patients daily, addressing issues from sore throats and ear infections to serious conditions like stroke and heart attack. Lancaster General Hospital, a Level I-accredited Trauma Center, recently expanded its ED, nearly doubling its size, including new behavioral health and pediatric beds.

Job Summary

• Assume responsibility and accountability as per the American Nurses Association standards. Practice as a full partner on the healthcare team, demonstrating safe practice within the professional practice model.
• Possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude to meet standards for competent professional nursing practice. Provide patient care independently, applying the nursing process, and being accountable for assigned patients, ranging from infants to the elderly.
• Demonstrate competencies in Quality Improvement, Evidence-Based Practice, Leadership, Person and Family Centered Care, Professionalism, Safety, Technology Informatics, and Teamwork.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate care across the continuum, providing individualized care considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, safety, and age factors.
• Seek and provide feedback to enhance clinical practice, demonstrating how nursing impacts organizational goals and complies with regulatory standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• RN licensure issued by the PA Board of Nursing.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher.
• Completion of the Nurse Residency Program or more than 15 months of practice.
• CPR Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support, required within 30 days of hire.
• In good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state insurance programs.
• Compliant with unit-based Plan for Provision of Care.

Credentials

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
• Registered Nurse - PA (Required)
• Labor & Delivery RNs must obtain RNC-OB or C-EFM within 3 years of hire.

Education or Equivalent Experience

• Bachelor of Science Nursing (Required)
