Job summary

Inova Fairfax Medical Campus in Falls Church, VA seeks an experienced CVICU RN to join our 24-bed, high-acuity unit and support post‑cardiac care. Nights (3 x 12‑hour shifts) with D/N orientation rotation are required. A relocation bonus is offered for those relocating to the area.

The CVICU is part of Inova Schar Heart and Vascular Institute, a leading cardiac center known for cutting‑edge care and collaborative culture. BSN or ADN with BSN plan is required.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience as an RN in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship.
• BSN from an accredited school of nursing; ADN nurses must complete a BSN within 5 years of hire.
• BLS for Health Care Providers certification from AHA required; ACLS within 6 months of hire.
• RN licensed or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in CVICU and manage post‑op cardiac cases.
• Monitor patient status and respond to emergencies promptly.
• Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, and allied health staff.
• Support orientation of new staff and participate in unit protocols.

Unit Overview

The CVICU is a 24-bed, high-acuity unit located in Falls Church, VA, specializing in the care of patients post-cardiac and vascular surgery, heart and lung transplant, advanced heart failure, and other complex diagnoses requiring intensive monitoring and life‑saving interventions. Minimum Qualifications

• 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship.
• BSN from an accredited school of nursing. Associate’s Degree (ADN) nurses must complete a BSN within 5 years of hire.
• BLS for health‑care provider certification from AHA required. ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• RN licensed or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of CVICU RN experience.
• CCRN certification.
• Proficient in advanced therapy modalities (e.g., IABP, Impella, CRRT, TTM, ECMO).
• Unit involvement experience.
