Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Cardio-PCU/GT8 step-down unit. The role requires nursing licensure, an Associate's degree (Bachelor's preferred), and ACLS/BLS certification.

You will perform assessments, develop care plans, administer medications, and educate patients and families while collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team. The position offers full-time daytime hours on a 36-hour week schedule, with on-site responsibilities at 601 East Rollins Street,

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing required

• RN license required (Florida) and BLS/ACLS required
• Proficient in basic computer skills and EKG competency

Job Description:

Unit Highlights:

• PCU Cardiovascular (GT8) is a designated step-down unit for patients recovering from cardiothoracic surgical procedures including coronary bypass grafting, valve repair and replacement, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), Pericardial window, device explanation and laser lead extraction. We also care for thoracic surgeries including esophagogastrostomy, lung resection, as well as thoracic and abdominal aneurysm repairs.

Schedule: Full-time, 36 hours a week

Shift: Days, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm

Location: 601 East Rollins Street, Orlando, FL

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors of patients.

• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and standards of care, regularly evaluating and revising these plans as necessary.

• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions.

• Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and self-care strategies to promote understanding and compliance.

• Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate and optimize patient care, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient information, care activities, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Organizational and multi-tasking skills

• Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures

• Ability to work as a Team player within a unit

• Effective verbal and oral communication and problem-solving skills

• Must be fluent in English (read, verbal and written skills)

• 1+ acute care hospital setting [Preferred]
