Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Cardio Echo Vascular Lab at RWJ University Hospital New Brunswick. The role supports patient assessments, care coordination, and post-procedure monitoring in an ambulatory setting.

You will work a full-time Day shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with weekend and holiday rotations. NJ RN licensure and BLS required; ACLS preferred; EPIC experience highly valued.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and BLS certification are required.
• ACLS Certification is preferred or must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is strongly preferred or must be completed within 5 years upon hire.
• 2+ years of acute care RN experience is highly preferred, especially in Cardio Dynamics and Stress Testing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and recognize clinical changes, intervening when needed.
• Administer safe, evidence-based medications and care with strong clinical judgment.
• Collaborate with physicians and advanced providers to coordinate care.
• Educate patients and families clearly and compassionately about next steps.
• Document accurately in the EMR to support continuity and safety.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds to improve communication and transitions of care.

Our Cardio Echo Vascular Lab is located inside the Ambulatory Medical Pavilion and assists in the performance of transesophageal and transthoracic echocardiograms, cardioversions and stress testing. The department admits, screens, evaluates, monitors and discharges patients coming into the lab for procedures.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care
• Taking an active role in a highly collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly impact outcomes

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS Certification with at least 2 years of acute care RN experience is required. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is strongly preferred or must be completed within 5 years upon hire. ACLS Certification is preferred or must be obtained within 6 months of employment. Prior 3-4 years of RN experience within acute care and Cardio Dynamics and Stress Testing experience is highly preferred and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position offers a Full-Time Day Shift schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday – Friday with weekend and holiday rotations, 40 hours per week, allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
