RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Surgical Unit-II in New Brunswick, NJ. This day-shift, 36-hour week role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and professional growth within a supportive hospital system.

The ideal candidate holds an active NJ RN license, BLS, ACLS, and 2 years of Surgical or Med/Surg RN experience, with an Associate degree required and a Bachelor’s degree preferred. EPIC EMR familiarity is strongly valued.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• ACLS certification and at least 2 years of Surgical or Med/Surg RN experience.
• Associate’s degree in Nursing is required; a Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and recognize clinical changes, intervening early.
• Administer safe, evidence-based medications and hands-on care.
• Serve as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers to support coordinated care.
• Educate patients and families clearly and compassionately.
• Document accurately in the EMR to promote continuity and safety.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary rounds and team communication.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. An Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification and at least 2 years of Surgical or Med/Surge RN experience are required. An Associate’s degree in Nursing is also required. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is strongly preferred, as is prior patient care experience and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position is DayShift, 36 hours per week, 7am-7:30pm.
