Job summary

North Alabama Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Cardiac unit on weekend nights to support 7p–7a shifts and a 3x12 schedule. A $10,000 sign-on is available for well-qualified applicants, with opportunities for growth and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Alabama RN license required; compact state license accepted.
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS/PALS preferred and must be obtained within 30 days.
  • Experience preferred; new grads welcome to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Perform plan of care interventions including medication administration and care treatments.
  • Document patient care; monitor and communicate patient condition to care team.
  • Assist with activities of daily living and coordinate transfers, discharges, and referrals.
  • Provide patient/family education and advocate for patient well-being.

The multi-disciplinary cardiology team at North Alabama Medical Center offers an integrated approach to heart care that spans the spectrum from prevention and diagnostic care to the latest in surgical treatments and rehabilitation.

How you'll contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN)who excels in this role:

  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Alabama or compact state RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Basic Life Support required
  • ACLS, PALS, and Handle with Care preferred, must be obtained within 30 days of employment
  • Experience preferred, but new grads welcomed to apply.
