Job summary

Memorial Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Short Stay Unit (6B). This fast-paced unit involves frequent admissions and discharges with on-site telemetry and a Magnet hospital environment that emphasizes high-quality, compassionate care.

The role supports two 12-hour night shifts per week, with every third weekend rotation, requiring ICU-style vigilance and strong patient-care skills in cardiopulmonary conditions.

Qualifications

• Licensed as RN in Illinois and current BLS/CPR certification.
• Ability to perform assessments, med administration and monitoring in a fast-paced unit.
• Experience with cardiopulmonary diagnoses and sterile procedures desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on the Cardiac Short Stay Unit (6B).
• Assess, monitor and document patient status and responses to interventions.
• Administer medications, IVs and assist with procedures as needed.

Registered Nurse - Cardiac Short Stay Unit (6B)

is a fast paced, quick turnaround unit with frequent admissions and discharges. All beds have "on-site" telemetry monitoring. Many opportunities for assessments, teaching, IVs, chest tubes, dressings, analysis of laboratory values and medication administration and management. Patient population is primarily focused on cardiopulmonary diagnosis such as Chest pain, Acute onset Afib, Heart failure, COPD, Asthma, Pneumonia, Acute PE/DVT. Cath lab and CVOR post procedural patients such as Cardiac stents, Ablations, Watchmans, Pacemaker/ICD insertion and Video Assisted Thoracoscopy surgery (VATS).

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Must be able to position and/or transfer an average adult patient and possess gross coordination sufficient to perform other patient care duties as required. Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of standing. Must be able to perform difficult manipulative skills such as IV insertion and IM injections.
• Environmental working conditions include exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue, contagious diseases and/or radioactive or other potentially hazardous materials.
