Job summary

Sovah Health - Danville is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for Behavioral Health on a PRN basis. The role involves 12-hour shifts with a focus on compassionate, quality patient care in a 24-bed behavioral health unit.

Responsibilities include medication administration, documentation, patient assessment, and interdisciplinary collaboration to coordinate transfers and education. Virginia licensure, BLS, and acute care experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license.
• Associate's degree in nursing required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.

• Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
• Documents patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs).
• Assess learning needs and delivers age-/culture-appropriate patient and family education.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.
• Participates in unit and organizational performance improvement and required continuing education.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have an active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.Associate's degree in nursing required.

Additional requirements include:

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support
• Previous experience in acute care hospital setting preferred.
