Job summary

Cottonwood Springs, a 108-bed behavioral health facility in partnership with Lifepoint Health, seeks an RN to provide compassionate care and lead nursing activities. The role emphasizes timely assessments, shift supervision, and adherence to policies while supporting patients through mental health treatment.

The RN must hold a Kansas or Compact State license; ADN is required with BSN preferred. BLS is mandatory; ACLS/PALS/Handle with Care are a plus and CPR/de-escalation training within 30 days

Qualifications

• Current Kansas or Compact State RN license.
• ADN required; BSN preferred.
• BLS certification required; ACLS, PALS, Handle with Care preferred; CPR and De-escalation certification required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient and plan care within set timeframes; document findings per policies.
• Oversee and supervise the shift.
• Demonstrate leadership by delegating tasks such as groups, close observation, meal supervision, etc.
• Oversee staff to ensure nursing policies and procedures are followed and high-quality care is delivered.
• Monitor patient for changes in condition and respond; notify physician as needed.
• Follow hospital policy for medication administration.
• Use empathy, dignity, and respect when interacting with patients.
• Deliver quality nursing care to meet treatment plan goals per policies and competencies.
• Assist with or perform comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients.

Cottonwood Springsis a 108-bed behavioral health facility offering adult mental health and substance use treatment services. The facility includes four 24-bed units (Meadows, Sunrise, Cedars, and Prairie) and one 12-bed unit (Sunflower), specializing in depression, anxiety, psychosis, thought disorders, and substance detoxification. Cottonwood Springs fosters a trauma-informed, team-centered culture where RNs and BHTs work collaboratively and are equally valued. ARegistered Nurse (RN)who excels in this role:

• Will assess the patient and plan care within set timeframes and document findings according to policies


• Will oversee and supervise the shift


• Demonstrates leadership through duties that may include delegating tasks such as groups, close observation, meal supervision, etc


• Will also oversee staff to ensure nursing policies and procedures are followed and exemplary patient care is consistently delivered by self and all members of the team


• Will monitor patient for change of condition and respond accordingly up to and including notification of the physician


• RN will follow hospital policy for medication administration


• RN will consistently use empathy, dignity, and respect when interacting with patients


• Delivery of quality nursing care to ensure that goals of the treatment plan are properly executed following hospital policies and procedures and demonstrated nursing competencies


• Assists/performs comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Kansas or Compact State RN license and possess an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

• Education: Bachelor of Science (BSN) preferred, Associates required


• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS, PALS, Handle with Care preferred, CPR, and De-escalation certification but must have within 30 days of hire

Schedule: FT Days Shift 7a - 7p and rotating weekends/on-call/holidays
