Job summary

Western Home Communities in Iowa is seeking a caring Registered Nurse (RN) to join our award-winning team. As an RN, you will provide high-quality resident care with strong staffing support and a voice in care planning.

You will communicate with physicians and supervisors, perform resident assessments, and supervise CNAs. The position is hourly and requires weekend/holiday availability, with a focus on safety, compassion, and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a state board-approved school.
  • Currently licensed as an RN in Iowa.
  • CPR certification current or willing to obtain.
  • Willing to work weekends/holidays as required.
  • Exceptional attendance and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate resident needs with physicians and supervisor.
  • Complete resident assessments; supervise LPNs in data gathering.
  • Monitor residents' condition and respond to changes.
  • Administer medications and orders; assume responsibility for care.
  • Consult with Dir. of Nursing on care plans and workload.
  • Plan admissions with family participation where appropriate.
  • Provide comfort, safety and emotional support to residents and families.
  • Supervise and support CNAs and care team.

What you'll do as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Effectively communicates resident needs with physicians and immediate supervisor
  • Completes resident assessments as required; supervises LPN in data gathering of information
  • Maintains awareness of the condition of all residents under their care
  • Accurately administers all medications, treatments, and physician orders; taking ultimate responsibility for resident care
  • Confers with the Director of Nursing on an ongoing basis with special problems of care, resident transfers, management of workload, etc.
  • Coordinates preparation and planning of resident admission; giving proper recognition to the real and potential contribution of family and others in planning nursing care
  • Provides for emotional and physical comfort and safety of residents, and emotional support to families
  • Supervises, assists, consults with and teaches certified nursing assistants
What you'll need as a Registered Nurse (RN)

  • This is an hourly position, which means you must be able and willing to work weekends and holidays as required/needed
