Job summary

MetroHealth Main Campus Recovery Room/PACU is seeking an RN to join the unit serving pediatric through adult post-operative patients. The shift is rotating with holidays and a call requirement, and the bi-weekly hours total 64.00.

The role collaborates with OR/ED/Inpatient RNs, anesthesia, surgeons, PT, radiology, and pharmacy to ensure patient safety and comfort in the immediate post-operative period. Qualified candidates will have an Ohio RN license, current BLS, and ACLS/PALS certifications

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Ohio RN license.
• Current BLS for healthcare provider.
• ACLS and PALS certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience.
• PRN must possess all required certifications upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain patient airway.
• Assess hemodynamic stability and support.
• Monitor sedation, neurological, neuromuscular, and sensory motor status.
• Provide adequate pain and comfort measures.
• Assess wound/incision integrity.
• Perform overall patient assessment.

Primary Patient Population:

• Pediatric through Adult
• Immediate post-operative period

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Maintain patient airway
• Assess hemodynamic stability and support
• Monitor sedation, neurological, neuromuscular, and sensory motor status
• Provision of adequate pain and comfort measures
• Assess Wound/incision integrity
• Overall patient assessment

Personnel RN will work with:

• OR/ ED/Inpatient RNs, Pre/Post Phase 2 staff, Anesthesia staff, Surgeons, PT, Radiology, Pharmacy

Number of OR Suites/Cases:

• 26 beds (Bay platform)
• 40-50 surgical cases daily

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Current ACLS and PALS certification or obtained within 6 months of hire
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience
• PRN must possess all required certifications upon hire

Preferred Qualifications:

• BSN
• Professional Certification recognized by the Magnet Association
