Job summary

MetroHealth Main Campus Recovery Room/PACU is seeking a Registered Nurse to care for pediatric through adult postoperative patients. You will monitor airway, hemodynamics, sedation, and pain, ensuring prompt response to changes in status. Collaboration with OR/ED teams and anesthesia is essential.

Prerequisites include Ohio RN licensure, BLS, ACLS/PALS, and at least 1 year of RN experience in a recovery or perioperative setting. PRN opportunities and rotating shifts may apply.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Ohio RN license.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Current ACLS and PALS or obtained within 6 months of hire.
• PRN requires 1 year of RN experience.
• PRN must possess all required certifications upon hire

Responsibilities

• Care for pediatric through adult patients in the Recovery Room/PACU.
• Assess airway, ventilation, circulation, and sensorium post‑op.
• Monitor sedation, pain control, and hemodynamic stability.
• Coordinate with OR/ED/inpatient RNs, anesthesia, surgeons, PT, Radiology, Pharmacy.

Bi-weekly Hours: 64.00

Shift: Rotating Shifts; Rotating holidays, Call Requirement

Primary Patient Population:

• Pediatric through Adult
• Immediate post-operative period

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Maintain patient airway
• Assess hemodynamic stability and support
• Monitor sedation, neurological, neuromuscular, and sensory motor status
• Provision of adequate pain and comfort measures
• Assess Wound/incision integrity
• Overall patient assessment

Personnel RN will work with:

• OR/ ED/Inpatient RNs, Pre/Post Phase 2 staff, Anesthesia staff, Surgeons, PT, Radiology, Pharmacy

Number of OR Suites/Cases:

• 26 beds (Bay platform)
• 40-50 surgical cases daily

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Current ACLS and PALS certification or obtained within 6 months of hire
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience
• PRN must possess all required certifications upon hire

Preferred Qualifications:

• BSN
• Professional Certification recognized by the Magnet Association
