Job summary

The State of Nebraska is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Reception and Treatment Center (Evergreen) in Lincoln. You will deliver direct patient care in a correctional setting, administer medications, and guide licensed practical nurses and staff under supervision of Nursing Director or Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising others (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to ill, injured, or disabled incarcerated individuals.
• Administer medications, transcribe and carry out doctor's orders, assess patients using protocols and triage.
• Assist in moving patients and provide clinical direction to LPNs and direct care staff.

Under limited supervision of a Nursing Director/Associate or Nurse Supervisor, provides nursing care to ill, injured, or disabled incarcerated individuals. Provides clinical direction and guidance to Licensed Practical Nurses and direct care staff, provides direct patient nursing care and treatment within the scope of licensure in a correctional setting. Performs patient care in a clinic or hospital setting. Administer medications, transcribe and carry out doctor's orders, assess patients utilizing protocols, triage. Assist in moving patients.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: A current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or authority based on the Nurse Licensure Compact to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in assigning, reviewing, leading, or supervising the work of others.
• Other: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance. Will complete four to eight weeks of on the job training. Must submit to background security check. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the pre-employment medical examination and a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid Nebraska Department of Correctional Services' Pre-service Training Program.
