Job summary

Correctional Services - Agency 46 in McCook, NE is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver professional care for inmates, under limited supervision. You will administer medications, transcribe doctor orders, and perform patient assessments within a correctional clinic.

Starting wage is $50.000 per hour with a $3/hour facility differential, a $1.50–$2.50 shift differential, generous leave, insurance, and retirement benefits. On-site job with full training and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or under the Nurse Licensure Compact.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance and valid driver’s license.
• Successful completion of pre-employment medical exam and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care to inmates under limited supervision.
• Administer medications, transcribe and execute doctor orders, assess using protocols.
• Provide clinical direction to LPNs and direct care staff; triage and move patients as needed.

Under limited supervision of a Nursing Director/Associate or Nurse Supervisor, provides professional nursing care for ill, injured, or disabled inmates. Provides clinical direction and guidance to Licensed Practical Nurses and direct care staff, provides direct patient nursing care and treatment within the scope of licensure in a correctional setting. Performs patient care in a clinic or hospital setting. Administer medications, transcribe and carry out doctor's orders, assess patients utilizing protocols, triage. Assist in moving patients.

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: A current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or authority based on the Nurse Licensure Compact to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in assigning, reviewing, leading, or supervising the work of others.

Other: Must possess a valid driver's license. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance. Will complete four to eight weeks of on the job training. Must submit to background security check. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the pre-employment medical examination and a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid Nebraska Department of Correctional Services' Pre-service Training Program.
