Job summary

Novant Health’s Pulmonary Unit in Winston-Salem is seeking an experienced RN to join a fast-paced, collaborative team. You will provide comprehensive care to patients with COPD, pneumonia, pulmonary embolism and other respiratory conditions, with hands-on practice in tracheostomy, ventilation, CPAP/BIPAP, and chest tubes.

Requirements include a BSN preferred, RN license, and at least one year of acute nursing experience. BLS certification is required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • One year of acute nursing experience required.
  • Current RN licensure in the appropriate state; BLS certification.
  • If applicable, refresher requirements apply for licensure reinstatement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions.
  • Perform focused respiratory assessments and intervene early for patients with escalating oxygen needs.
  • Manage specialized skills including tracheostomy and ventilated patient care, CPAP/BIPAP, and chest tube management.
  • Administer blood products and select IV drips as needed.
  • Conduct advanced respiratory assessment and intervention and respond to changes in patient status.

What You'll Do
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions, including COPD, pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, influenza, and respiratory failure
  • Perform focused respiratory assessments and intervene early for patients with escalating oxygen and ventilatory needs
  • Manage specialized skills including:
    • Tracheostomy and ventilated patient care
      CPAP/BIPAP and heated high-flow oxygen therapy
      Chest tube management
      Administration of blood products and select IV drips
  • Advanced respiratory assessment and intervention
  • Tracheostomy and ventilated patient management

What We're Looking For
  • Education:
    - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
    - 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
    - If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
  • Experience:One year of acute nursing experience required.
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration:
    - Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
    -Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Red Cross or American Heart Association required.
