Job summary

Novant Health in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Registered Nurse for our 24-bed Pulmonary Care Unit. You will care for patients with COPD, pneumonia, respiratory failure, and other respiratory conditions, with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio (may flex to 1:6) in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, is licensed as an RN in North Carolina, and has at least one year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • Requires RN licensure in North Carolina and state board eligibility.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required; BSN preferred.
  • One year of relevant RN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Care for patients with COPD, asthma, pneumonia, and other respiratory conditions.
  • Monitor patient status and respond to changes in clinical condition.
  • Administer medications and therapies per standards of care.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the care team to coordinate care.
  • Educate patients and families on disease management and discharge instructions.

What You'll Do

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
  • Care for patients with COPD, asthma, pneumonia, respiratory failure, pulmonary embolism, and other respiratory conditions
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to changes in clinical status
  • Administer medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with established standards of care
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
  • Educate patients and families on disease management, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
  • Deliver compassionate, evidence-based care that promotes optimal health outcomes

What We're Looking For

  • Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
  • Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
