Job summary

Novant Health's Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Pulmonary Progressive Care unit. This full-time night shift (7pm-7am) focuses on advanced respiratory care and patient monitoring.

Responsibilities include comprehensive nursing care, respiratory assessments, and procedures such as tracheostomy care, ventilator management, CPAP/BIPAP, and chest tube care. BSN and active RN licensure are required; one year of experience preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
  • Active RN license in the state of employment.
  • Minimum one year of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions.
  • Perform focused respiratory assessments and intervene early for escalating needs.
  • Manage tracheostomy and ventilated patient care, including CPAP/BIPAP and heated high-flow therapy.
  • Oversee chest tube care and administration of appropriate IV therapies.
  • Deliver advanced respiratory assessment and intervention.

What You'll Do
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions, including COPD, pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, influenza, and respiratory failure
  • Perform focused respiratory assessments and intervene early for patients with escalating oxygen and ventilatory needs
  • Manage specialized skills including:
    • Tracheostomy and ventilated patient care
      CPAP/BIPAP and heated high-flow oxygen therapy
      Chest tube management
      Administration of blood products and select IV drips
  • Advanced respiratory assessment and intervention
  • Tracheostomy and ventilated patient management
  • CPAP/BIPAP & heated high flow oxygen therapy
  • Chest tube care and respiratory device management
What We're Looking For
  • Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
  • Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
