Minimum Years of Experience required: 2 years PCU experience
Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes, prefer with at least 2 years’ experience
Unit Culture: Driven to provide quality patient care through communication and teamwork.
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
Acute Respiratory Failure, COPD, CHF, PE, NSTEMI, CVA, Sepsis, GI Bleed, Afib/flutter, ETOH abuse
Patient Ratios:
RN: 1:4 – Progressive, 1:5 - Medical
CNA: 1:8-10
Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Skills required:
Bipap, Optiflow (high flow), NC 1-15L, home vent care, trach care, chest tubes management, Pleurx drains, ostomy care, wound vac care, post pacemaker, TR band post Heart Cath, PIV starts, blood draws,
Medication drip management of the following: Heparin, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Labetalol, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Nesiritide, Cardene, Nitroglycerine, Phenobarbital -all either IVP, Titration or IVP
Support within the Department:
CNA - vital signs, blood sugars, ADLs, foley placement, lab draws, etc.
Receptionist/HUC: Yes – M-F 8a-3p
Charge nurse – typically a free charge
Phlebotomy: Nursing and CNA will draw labs
IV/VAT Team
RT, 24/7: 2 on days, 1 on nights – stays on the unit
Hospitalist, 24/7
Intensivist, 24/7
Telemetry monitoring/tech? Yes
Technology/Equipment:
EMR: Epic
IV Pump: Alaris
Med dispensing: Omnicell
Monitors: Phillips – hardwire and remove boxes
Unit specific equipment: Lifepak, Bladder scanner x2, EKG machine x2, remote tele box, portable monitor, hoyer lift, dopplers, etc.
Floating:
Within region and scope of practice
Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises
If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
