Job Description Overview

This is a floating RN position within a specified region and scope of practice, requiring flexibility to work across multiple facilities listed below. Candidates must be agreeable to floating as needed.

Region and Facility Details

• Region 2 - Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, Central Division (CMC Main + CMC Mercy + Levine Children’s Hospital)

Facility specifics include:

• Number of licensed beds: 337
• Trauma Designation: No
• Teaching Hospital: No
• Chest Pain Center: Yes
• Stroke Center: Yes
• Parking: Free

Radius rule: Traveler’s permanent address must be more than 50 miles from the home unit.

Unit Information

• Number of beds: 36
• Average census: 36
• Experience required: 2 years of PCU experience
• First-time travelers accepted: Yes
• Unit culture: Family-oriented with excellent teamwork

Patient Care Details

Common diagnoses include COPD, pulmonary diseases, heart failure, arrhythmias, renal failure, sepsis, alcohol/CIWA, IV drug abuse, tracheostomies on ventilation, BIPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, hypothermia regulation, and titratable IV drips.

Patient ratios:

• RN: 1:3-4
• CNA: 1:9

Qualifications and Skills

Required licenses and certifications:

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Skills include experience with ventilated/trached patients, cardiac monitoring, chest tubes, trach care, blood products, wound care, and dressing changes.

Support and Equipment

Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurses, virtual nursing, phlebotomy, IV team, pharmacists, case managers, nurse educators, RTs, hospitalists, and intensivists. Equipment includes EPIC EMR, Alaris pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Phillips monitors, Rover communication, and virtual nursing tools.

Requirements

RN license, PCU experience, and the following are required: DOB, one reference, and proof of residence more than 50 miles from the hospital. Also required to start ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
