Job summary

SurgCenter of Plano is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide preop PACU care, ensure patient safety, comfort and privacy, and assist with anesthesia recovery. Responsibilities include assessment, planning and discharge prep as patients recover from general anesthesia or sedation.

The role emphasizes weekday coverage with no holidays, weekends, nights, or on-call duties; requires RN licensure, BLS/ACLS, and PACU/ICU experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
  • Active RN license in the state.
  • BLS and ACLS required; PALS if required by the center.
  • At least 2 years experience in PACU or Critical Care preferred.
  • Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload to meet the needs of patients and the unit.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Position Overview

Registered Nurse Preop PACU at SurgCenter of Plano provides continuity and quality nursing care for all patients upon arrival, with continual evaluation of their condition to ensure patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. The RN may assist physicians in the procedure rooms with conscious sedation, using sterile techniques as deemed appropriate, and provide comprehensive care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient and family in preparation for discharge.
