Job summary

Job description

Registered Nurse PACU

• Under direct supervision of the Pre‑op/PACU Director.
• Responsible for implementing the Post Anesthesia Care record, nursing care plan and assimilation of the patient’s hospital record.
• Implement all physician orders, ensuring continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patients’ condition, providing patient safety, comfort and privacy at all times.
• Occasionally assist physicians in procedure rooms with tasks such as conscious sedation and use of sterile technique as needed.

Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Licensure/Certification

• Current Texas Nursing License.
• Current CPR, ACLS certification.
• PALS preferred.

Required Experience

• Minimum of two (2) years in a hospital setting.
• Preferred: 2 years critical care experience.
• Preferred: Pre‑Op PACU experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong organizational habits.
• Ability to adapt to change quickly, with strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient.
• Understands principles of aseptic technique and their implementation.
• Ability to care for patients from infancy to geriatrics.
• Excellent teaching skills.
• Basic knowledge of continuous quality improvement ideology.
