Job summary

Durango Outpatient Surgery Center is seeking a Registered Nurse PreOp PACU -PRN to join the team. The center offers a fast-paced ambulatory environment with a broad range of surgical procedures and a commitment to high-quality patient care in a safe setting.

Responsibilities include providing comprehensive perioperative nursing, assisting physicians, and ensuring safe recovery from anesthesia. PRN shifts require at least 6 shifts per month, with a daytime schedule and no nights or weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Nurse with an unrestricted license to practice in NV.
• Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Must have 2+ years of critical care experience.
• Ambulatory Surgical Center experience preferred.
• Current BLS, ALS and PALS accredited by AHA.
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient.
• Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing patient conditions.
• Excellent team player with strong communication with staff, patients and physicians.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuity and quality nursing care for all patients with ongoing evaluation of condition.
• Assist physicians in procedure rooms with tasks including conscious sedation and sterile technique.
• Provide post-anesthesia care and discharge planning for patients.
• Maintain patient safety, comfort and privacy at all times.

Durango Outpatient Surgery Center is a fast-paced Ambulatory Surgery Center committed to producing the highest quality work and experience for patients and their families. We have 5 operating rooms offering a full range of surgical procedures including: Bariatrics, Colorectal, General Surgery/Robotics, GI, OB/Gynecology, Sports Medicine, Orthopedic, Pain Management, Podiatry, and Spine.

What You Will Do (Job Summary) -

The Registered Nurse PreOp PACU provides continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patient's condition, providing patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. May assist the physicians in the procedure rooms with various tasks, including conscious sedation, and utilizing sterile techniques as deemed appropriate. Will provide total comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation; assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient and family in preparation for discharge.

The PRN work requirement is at least 6 shifts/month.

The regular work schedule for this position consists of variable hours, Monday through Friday, during the day shift. Specific start and end times may vary based on operational needs, but the role is generally expected to be performed within standard daytime business hours. Flexibility in scheduling is required to ensure adequate coverage and support for departmental operations.
