Job summary

OrthoNY, LLP. is seeking a Registered Nurse for Pre-Op/PACU to deliver high-quality care during the pre-operative and post-operative phases of the patient journey at our Loudonville location.

A minimum of 2 years PACU or critical care experience is required; strong communication with providers, patients and peers is essential; you must be able to maintain flow in post-operative care and provide clear pre- and post-operative instructions.

A valid driver’s license and vehicle to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to effectively communicate with providers, patients and peers.
• Capable of decision making in post-operative care.
• Specialized knowledge in perioperative nursing.

Responsibilities

• Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery.
• Ensure operative and informed consents are signed and correct.
• Take and record vital signs to ensure readiness for procedure.
• Assess patients’ post-operative condition.
• Monitor vital signs and ensure discharge readiness.
• Document findings in patient files.
• Answer patient questions to ensure comfort.
• Report changes to physician.
• Gather medical history and provide pre/post-operative instructions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $38.00 To $55.00 Hourly

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Pre-op/PACU RN will assist in providing high-quality care during the pre-op and post-op phase of the patient's visit.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery;
• Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct;
• Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure;
• Assess patients’ post-operative condition;
• Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress to ensure patient is meeting discharge criteria;
• Document all findings in patient files;
• Answer patient questions to ensure patient comfort;
• Monitor patients for condition changes, report any changes to physician;
• Gather pertinent medical history and provide concise instruction for pre-operative and post-operative care;
• Other responsibilities as needed/assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Candidate must demonstrate aptitude for maintaining pace of abbreviated patient encounters, keeping flow to reasonable time frame in post-operative care;
