Job summary

St. David’s Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks a Registered Nurse for the PCU MedSurg Float Pool in Austin, TX. You will provide care across progressive and medical-surgical units, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.

Responsibilities include assessment, care planning, medication administration, education, and discharge planning within a Magnet-designated system.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience as an RN
  • BSN preferred; ADN acceptable

You'll help shape decisions that elevate both patient outcomes and the future of nursing.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Progressive Care Unit and Medical Surgical Float Pool Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for performing patient assessments, developing a plan of care, and implementing and evaluating care. As a member of the interdisciplinary care team, you will work collaboratively with the other members to ensure the safe and accurate delivery of care.

  • You will formulate a plan of care, revise the plan based on the patient’s response to treatment and regularly evaluate plan for effectiveness

  • You will consult and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop, evaluate and revise the plan of care to meet the patient’s needs and goals

  • You will administer medications and complete treatments according to hospital policy

  • You will delegate work appropriately to non-licensed staff in accordance with standards of practice

  • You will provide pre- and post-operative patient care

  • You will provide education materials to patients and families on care and treatments

  • You will facilitate discharge plans in collaboration with the care team

Requirements

Experience

  • 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - Preferred

  • Associates Degree in Nursing

License and Certifications

  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. FT/PT/PRN colleagues with a compact license from a state other than Texas must:

  • Apply for Texas RN license within 60 days from hire

  • **Obtain current TX RN license within 6 months of application for TX RN license**

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required as per St. David’s Healthcare policy

  • NIHSS certification – required within 30 days of hire

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification – required within 6 months of hire
