Job summary

South Texas Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse to manage patients and provide leadership in nursing care for medical and surgical cases. The RN will assess, plan, guide, and evaluate care, and collaborate with hospital staff to resolve issues while upholding service excellence.

Responsibilities include supervising nursing staff, ensuring safe care per policies, and potential weekend/evening coverage as needed. Current TX RN license and BLS required; BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have and maintain BLS.
• Certification requirements vary by unit (ARC/AHA) and must be kept current.
• New graduates may provide documentation from their RN program validating completion.

Responsibilities

• Manage patients admitted or seen for medical conditions or surgical procedures.
• Provide safe, competent nursing care in accordance with policies and philosophy.
• Provide professional leadership and support to the healthcare team.
• Oversee and guide nursing staff under supervision.
• Coordinate with hospital staff and ancillary departments regarding patient care, concerns, and resolutions.
• May work weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, and on-call/call-back status.
