Job Description

  • Part-time Day Shift
  • 40 hours bi-weekly
  • Position includes on-call requirements

WellSpan's Intraprocedural Skills Execution (WISE) program offers formal learning opportunities for all perioperative novice nurses at WellSpan. The program aims to bridge the theory-practice gap, enhance confidence, knowledge, and competence, and improve interdisciplinary communication and nurse retention.

General Summary

Provides professional nursing care at the beginner level, acting as a primary nurse for patients, coordinating care with other disciplines, and possibly requiring specialized skills depending on the unit.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and provide direct patient care based on patient and family-centered principles.
  • Administer prescribed treatments, medications, and interventions safely and independently.
  • Organize and prioritize care based on patient condition and workload.
  • Seek mentoring from senior nurses.
  • Communicate patient needs during care transitions and collaborate with families and disciplines.
  • Document patient responses and progress accurately using appropriate tools.
  • Identify professional growth opportunities and utilize evidence-based practices.
  • Support a safe, collaborative, and professional environment, participating in shared decision-making and quality improvement.
  • Delegate care tasks appropriately and monitor team performance.
  • Promote effective interdisciplinary communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Participate in virtual nursing activities as applicable.
  • Perform duties specific to assigned units, including meeting additional clinical skill requirements.
  • Maintain current BLS certification; additional certifications may be required based on unit specifics (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP).

  • Adhere to safety, quality, and infection control standards.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
  • Previous operating room experience preferred.
