A leading healthcare organization seeks a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) to provide patient-centered care within a collaborative environment. As an integral member of the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) healthcare team, the Registered Professional Nurse (RN) upholds the YNHHS mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives to provide the highest level of patient-centered care. The RN practices professional nursing within the legal and ethical frameworks established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Scope and Standards for Nursing Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model. The role of the RN is exemplified by leadership, delegation, collaboration, effective communication, and ensuring quality outcomes. Nurses practice within a framework that emphasizes "Achieving outcomes through Autonomy and Accountability," valuing Nursing Professional Governance, and utilizing evidence and data to support practice with the patient and family at the center.
The RN provides care that:
Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. All new RNs must have current BCLS certification or obtain it within one month of hire.
Experience: All RNs are encouraged to advance through the SPIRE clinical program. The foundational job description applies to all RNs.
Licensure: Current RN license in Connecticut. Clinical specialty certification is highly encouraged.
Skills: As above, with encouragement for career advancement through SPIRE.
Requires prolonged standing, walking, and use of sight, hearing, touch. Exposure to infectious diseases, physical, mental, and emotional stress, end-of-life situations, and potential injury. Must be able to assist with patient handling ranging from 5 to 300 pounds.
Critical care or pediatric experience preferred. 9 months of acute care experience required (excluding orientation). BLS certification required; PALS and ACLS preferred.
