The RN practices professional nursing within the legal and ethical framework established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, ANA standards, and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model. The role of the RN includes leadership, delegation, collaboration, effective communication, and ensuring quality outcomes. YNHHS nurses follow a framework emphasizing 'Achieving outcomes through Autonomy and Accountability'. The RN provides care that:
Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Current BCLS certification required or obtained within one month of hire.
Experience: All RNs encouraged to advance through the SPIRE clinical program.
Licensure: Licensed and registered in Connecticut. Certification in clinical specialty encouraged.
Skills: Foundational nursing skills; ongoing professional development encouraged.
Prolonged standing, walking, use of senses; exposure to infectious diseases and emotional stress; ability to assist with patient mobility up to 300 pounds.
Oncology experience preferred.
