Job summary

Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale, GA is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN to join our perioperative team. The OR RN provides comprehensive nursing care before, during, and after surgery within a collaborative surgical unit.

Responsibilities include preparing the OR, verifying patient identity and site, documenting vital signs and medications, and maintaining a sterile environment in accordance with infection control protocols.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Current PALS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Minimum of one year previous Perioperative experience or on the job training
• Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) Certification (AORN) preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room, ensure the cleanliness of the environment, and confirm that all required equipment is functioning properly
• Assist in preparing the patient for surgery, verify the patient's identity and surgical site, help position the patient on the operating table, and ensure all pre-operative procedures are completed
• Document pertinent information before, during, and after the surgical procedure, such as vital signs and medications administered in the patient’s medical record
• Maintain a safe and sterile operating room environment by adhering to infection control protocols and ensuring team adherence to instrument handling procedures

We are seeking an Operating Room RN also known as an OR RN or perioperative nurse, provides comprehensive nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgery. Operating Room Nurse work within the operating room setting, collaborating with surgeons and other surgical team members to ensure patient safety and well-being.OR RNs prepare patients for surgery, which includes reviewing medical history, conducting assessments, educating patients and families about the procedure, and administering pre-operative medications.
