Job summary

Ascension in Austin, TX, seeks an experienced OR RN for expert perioperative care, switching between scrub and circulator roles to support high-acuity surgeries and patient safety.

You will coordinate intraoperative management, assist surgeons with hemostasis and positioning, ensure sterile instrument readiness, and participate in on-call rotations with holidays. Texas RN licensure and 1+ year OR trauma experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse in Texas.
• ACLS and/or BLS within required timeframes.
• Diploma from an accredited school of nursing.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care for high-acuity patients, seamlessly transitioning between scrub and circulator roles to ensure surgical precision and patient safety.
• Coordinate intraoperative clinical management by monitoring hemodynamics, documenting critical interventions, and facilitating clear communication within the surgical team.
• Deliver advanced surgical assistance, actively supporting surgeons with hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and specialized patient positioning during complex procedures.
• Optimize suite readiness and sterile integrity through the meticulous preparation of specialized instrumentation and life-saving equipment for rapid-response trauma cases.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• One or more of the following required:
  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

What Additional Preferences We're Seeking

• 1+ years of OR RN experience
• 1+ years of trauma RN experience
